Thank you for your kind reply Uli,

I am aware of the process of keygeneration and already have read through the 
README. Unfortunately there is no message informing me about keygeneration in 
the status window. That is why I misinterpreted the above otr message as otr 
ignoring any attempts to cummunicate privately.

I installed pidgin with otr and also tried with two instances of irssi, but 
trying to initialize (choose from the otr menu in pidgin; "?OTR?" in irssi) a 
session does not give me the keygeneration message.
Plaintext ist sent normally.

I have absolutely no clue what I might be doing wrong or what might be 
misconfigured, as it worked just fine before for IRC and ICQ.
