Angela,

Check out AIM over the Web. You need to have Java installed, but if you
already do or can install it,
go to http://toc.oscar.aol.com, and enter your credentials in. Voila!

It's not as functional as the full client (you won't get a flashing window
popup when you get a new message)
but it'll do in a pinch.
