Which AIM client are you using?  iChat?  If so, the you should be using
HTTP on port 8080.  AOL's AIM client?  I think you may be the first
person we've heard of using it.  If that's the case, I'd suggest trying
HTTPS on 8080, as well.

[Are you aware that the beta release of Adium X has OTR support built
in?  I don't know how married you are to your client.]
