Yes.  Which is off by default in Adium because of repeated complaints  
about the whitespace trailing initial messages.  People notice these  
things and get upset if you're forcing them into it -- I think  
Opportunistic is a perfect default for an external plugin (obviously  
anyone who downloads and installs OTRProxy or gaim-otr is wanting to  
use OTR with some regularity), but it's not good for the world's only  
client with built-in OTR (*grin*).

Basically what I'd like, to put it differently, is a sort of Smart  
Opportunistic mode -- an Opportunistic that applies when in Manual  
Only mode after the secure session has been ended by one side but not  
the other.
