[OTR-users] OTR and Gaim on IRC

Hello,

Does the OTR Gaim plugin work on private IRC chats?

Yes, I know that OTR can't possibly work for a channel. But I don't know 
enough about the IRC protocol to know if it should work for a private 
IRC chat.

I know it works with Jabber. Should I get a Jabber account instead of 
using IRC?
