OTR is mearly a protocol that is used over other protocols such as AIM, 
YIM, MSN, Jabber and all the other protocols gaim supports. Think of OTR 
as Russian. You can speak it on any protocol like AIM and nobody knows 
what you are saying :) Hope that clarifies it.
