Before folks here get all paranoid, please understand that Facebook
Chat uses XMPP but their implementation is *seriously* incomplete. It
would not surprise me if their server code is so broken that it's
failing to deliver certain kinds of messages out of sheer incompetence.

And really, if you care about privacy, why are you using Facebook anyway?

In any case, I don't have a Facebook account I can help test with.
