To make it work: I got the source of the pidgin package and then ran configure. Then I edited the Makefile to have: debug: $(MAKE) all "CXXFLAGS=-g -DDEBUG" Then I ran make all debug and then make install. Now it works. So is there a timing issue in the plugin? Any ideas on what could be wrong? I found out that my method only worked when I stopped the compilation in the middle of it and then started it again. I will work on this a little bit per day in my free time now that I am done with my qualifier exam.
