Why the right click? (Left-)Clicking the "OTR: <status>" like Patrik linked would just display a small menu just like the formatting and insert "toolbar buttons" do.
Well, the OTR menu item could even stay in the menu bar (minus the icon, which looks a bit alien there anyway) and the "OTR: <status>" could just display the status down in the toolbar.
