I wondered that there is no German translation available, so I did one. The results can be found here: https://www.tiwoc.de/pidgin-otr/de.po I hope this will be useful for the project... -- Daniel Seither From mail at code.mmsources.de Tue Oct 30 17:10:45 2007 From: mail at code.mmsources.de (Michael Meier) Date: Tue, 30 Oct 2007 22:10:45 +0100 Subject: [OTR-dev] pidgin-otr: German translation In-Reply-To: <47276A2C.7040400@arcor.de> References: <47276A2C.7040400@arcor.de> Message-ID: <47279DD5.9060704@code.mmsources.de> Hello, i've done a translation in August, unfortunately some weeks after release of the latest version 3.1. The archived mailing list post may be found here: http://lists.cypherpunks.ca/pipermail/otr-dev/2007-August/000725.html I consider my version to be more correct since it uses the grammatical polite form as does the German Pidgin localization. Regarding several specific terms i have consulted many places like the pidgin localization, occurences in other software or lemmas in German wikipedia to achieve the most contextual correct translation. For example, i chose "Passphrase" as translation for "secret", as the literal translation is not a common term in German that makes users think about cryptography but about personal secrets and there are more requirements than simply using a pass"word" like "hello". Of course, i'm ready for discussions, but i'd recommend to use my version as base for changes. Attached is the most recent diff relative to my first submission.
